Pasture-raised pigs grazing at Short Creek Farm in Montevallo, Alabama

Pasture-Raised Pork

Our pigs are raised outdoors on open pasture right here in Montevallo, rooting and foraging the way pigs are meant to live. We sell our pork by the half hog or whole hog, so you can fill your freezer with pork you know the story behind.

Bred for the pasture and the plate

Every pig we raise starts with the right genetics. Our herd boar is a Red Wattle, and we cross him over Yorkshire sows. We chose this cross for two reasons: these pigs are excellent foragers that make the most of good pasture, and they produce exceptional meat.

The Red Wattle boar

Red Wattles are a heritage breed known for being hardy, active foragers and for rich, flavorful pork. They bring the foraging instinct and the flavor to our cross.

The Yorkshire sows

Yorkshires are long, well-muscled pigs and steady mothers. Crossed with our Red Wattle, they give us strong, growthy pigs that do well out on grass.
