Short Creek Farm has been breeding Tennessee Walking Horses in Montevallo, Alabama, since 1989. We keep the program small on purpose, so every animal gets real time and attention.
What we believe
- Disposition comes first. A horse that’s gentle and easy to catch is a horse you’ll actually ride. We handle our foals from birth so good manners start early.
- Gait and conformation over color. We breed for a smooth, natural gait and sound build. A pretty coat is a bonus, not the goal.
- Quality over quantity. Our broodmares go through a strict selection process, and we raise only a few foals each year.
- Healthy pasture, healthy animals. Our sheep live on grass year-round, and managed grazing keeps the flock healthy without routine dewormers.
Meet the family

Short Creek Farm is a family farm. When you call, you’ll be talking with Joe, and when you come out for a visit, there’s a good chance you’ll meet the whole crew.
